Being the first renewable energy project under national renewable energy program, 405 MW Sakaka PV IPP is located 30 km outside of Sakaka City in Al Jouf Region and will cover an area of 6 square kilometres. Upon completion, the project; where a ground-breaking ceremony was officially commenced by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, will supply 45,000 households with power in Al Jouf, while offsetting over 430,000 tons of carbon dioxide a year.
Drilling works have commenced on January 8th, 2019 in accordance with the HSE and Quality Control programs. Within the scope of the project 30,000 no. of holes for installation of solar panels are to be drilled by Down-The-Hole (DTH) drilling method in limestone strata by KASKTAS.
