The 670 MW Deriner Dam, located on the Çoruh River in the Eastern Black Sea Region, is the largest dam in Turkey and the fifth largest concrete dam in the world with a height of    247 m. Construction of dam commenced in 1998, undertaken by a consortium of Turkish, Swiss and Russian companies.

Within the scope of the project, permanent prestressed rock anchors with a total length of 14,000 m having a capacity of 1,900 kN were installed. In some areas, anchors were installed with a skid-mounted drilling rig working on a temporary platform with a maximum height of 15 m. A detailed monitoring program consisting of extensometer, inclinometer and load cells was implemented to comply with a comprehensive quality control program pursued during this project.
