Being the first renewable energy project under national renewable energy program, 405 MW Sakaka PV IPP is located 30 km outside of Sakaka City in Al Jouf Region and covers an area of 6 km2. Upon completion, the project will supply 45,000 households with power in Al Jouf, while offsetting over 430,000 tons of carbon dioxide a year.
Within the scope of the project 25,100 no. of holes for installation of solar panels are drilled by Down-The-Hole (DTH) drilling method in limestone strata. Drilling works have commenced on January 8, 2019 and finished on April 1, 2019.
