Following the completion of 1915 Çanakkale Bridge European Anchor Block Excavation and Support Works, Asian Anchor Block excavation support and barrette pile installation works have been started. Within the scope of the project; where excavation depth is maximum 6m, a shoring system consisting of 80 cm diameter and 15 m deep secant piles were designed and the construction was completed as of October 2018. To meet the high tensile loads and moments acting on the anchor block; a special foundation system consisting of 7 rows of barrette piles having a total plan length of 51.5m and a thickness of 120cm were designed as the foundation system of the anchor block by the designer Cowi. Before starting the construction of barrette piles, bi-directional preliminary load test was performed using special jacks with a capacity of 5200 tons. Currently, the barrette pile installation works by using a hydraulic cutter continues at full speed in accordance with the requirements specified in the technical specifications of the project. The reinforcement cages are strengthened with steel profiles for the purpose of lifting and placing one piece reinforcement cages; weighing 35 tons and 7 m wide into the excavated trench.
